RB Farquhar success with IHG's newest addition to its brand.
Architects impression of the Indigo Hotel exterior by Ica Architects
RB Farquhar have been working closely with Ica Architects to assist with delivering 94 innovative bathroom pods to the scheme, all of which will be delivered over a four week period in May 2010.
The project at Waterloo Street will see an old Victorian office block be developed into a 96 bed boutique hotel including a restaurant and bar.
It will operate under the Indigo brand, part of the global InterContinental Hotel Group. Hotel Indigo is the newest addition to IHG’s brand with 27 hotels open in North America and 59 more planned around the world. IHG don’t dictate the size of the rooms or the quantity per property making the brand ideal for conversions of existing buildings.
Kirk Kinsell, InterContinental's president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "All Hotel Indigo properties are unique and designed specifically to reflect their location. Glasgow and Liverpool are exciting, vibrant cities and thriving tourist and business destinations that are a great match for the Hotel Indigo brand. We look forward to signing more Hotel Indigo properties in cities across Europe."
The hotel will be franchised by Glasgow based hotel management company Chardon Management which operates several Holiday Inn and Express by Holiday Inns across the UK.
Chardon chief executive Maurice Taylor commented: "The new Hotel Indigo Glasgow is set to be a fantastic property. The building will retain its original character while the design reflects the contemporary, individual style that guests expect from a boutique hotel."
The hotel is due to open mid 2010.
